Two months ago I started to note all my spendings in Excel table, because I realy didn't know where my money is going. The biggest expense is my car, now the price of gasoline went down and my budget is healthier. Also, I was suprised when I realised how much I spend in coffee shops and bars!
I agree that we buy so much stuff we don't need. It is hard to stop buying without control but it can be done, although I believe that we shouldn't stop buying entirely. Oliver is right, we all live of the trade. Don't forget, you have to sell your books :)

Given the news that on a bargain-hunt someone in the USA was killed, buying nothing might be a nice idea, however I would hate it if that really happened to full effect. It's a bit like "imagine its war, and no one shows up".
We all live off the trade, be it that we want to buy or that we want to sell something (cough-books-cough) our world cannot sustain without consumption, even if its only food or electricity, or paper to write books (cough).

I guess however that we have to understand what we need and what we do not need. And too many people live only on the things they do not need (gadgets and larger TV screens) and ignore the stuff they actually need (proper food, medicine).

So not to buy anything for one day might help those people who do not understand what they need...

Ana, are you trying to ruin me? One thing is not buying things you don’t need, I agree with that, but stop buying at all? Are you crazy? The most rewarding thing in life is to spend your hard earned money in something that makes you happy... For some people this might be a theater night for me is clothing! And I know you; you love art, music and literature, but also beautiful clothes!
Love,
Nesi
